Ah, crap. Eater LA follows up on the news that Soho House will not be taking over the former Morton's Restaurant on Melrose as originally planned. Instead, those boozy Brits are heading to 9200 Sunset Boulevard in West Hollywood, taking over the top floors--a total of 6,000 square feet--of the building. As previously noted, 9200 Sunset is getting a re-do by Kanner Architects (rendering pictured). And rather than open in winter 2008 as originally planned, SoHo House will open in 2009, but will throw a few Oscar parties to keep the Euros satiated. Morton's would have been more old school and more interesting, we think. And here's the connection and reason for the switch: Morton's is getting Cecconi's, an offshoot of London's Cecconi's, which has been run by Soho House Group since 2005, according to Variety.
