Architecture Watch: South Korea's Green Hills

New, 3 comments

MVRDV Architects have clearly been thinking outside the box, and in fact have set the box on fire and returned its ashes to the box making factory. The design team at MVRDV have won a competition to design the town center for Gwanggyo, South Korea. The multi-tower development features terraced sides resembling rolling green hills and will provide housing for 77,000 people, an entertainment center, offices, and a multiplex theater. The design is intended to connect to the park like spaces surrounding the development. The budget and "time frame" are still being discussed. However, a completion date is estimated for 2011.
