New Billboard Ban Passes

New, 7 comments

The LA Times' Phil Willon reports that the City Council unanimously approved a three-month moratorium on new billboard signs, supergraphics and the conversion of existing billboards to electronic ones. Via the paper: "The moratorium is intended to give the city time to craft a permanent and coherent billboard policy -- or consider an outright ban on the signs -- that could affect all aspects of outdoor advertising in the city, including roadside billboards and video commercials at gas station pumps." Before the vote, billboard company Clear Channel indicated they may proceed with legal action if the ban passes, reports Willon. Bastards. Here's the pdf of the City Council decision. More on the sign issue here. [LA Times]
