Rent Check: Historic Villa D'este Still Up For Grabs

New, 28 comments

Back in March, we noticed the 1928 courtyard building Villa D'este (inspired by its Italian namesake on Lake Maggiore) had two rental units on the market: a $3,450/month one bedroom and a $4,500/month two bedroom. Fast forward 10 months later and...they're still on the market. In fact, the leasing agent tells us the one bedroom is in fact $3,800 per month unfurnished and $4,800 per month furnished. Perhaps it's time to rethink the rent? The leasing agent blames the lack of tenants on the economy but tells us the owner is not willing to reduce the rental price. The building was designed Pierpont and Walter Davis, and has been impressively restored. Amenities include walnut hardwood floors, wood beam ceilings, wood burning fireplaces, and intricate tile details. [Images taken in March 2008]
