New To Market: Bel Air Estate With History

New, 27 comments

We're fairly certain this is the first time this Bel Air estate has come on the market. Built in 1951, this is the home of Marion Jorgensen, a prominent LA philanthropist who was friends with the Reagans back in the day. Marion Jorgensen passed away earlier this year at the ripe old age of 96, leaving behind two sons, many grandkids and great-grandchildren, and this lovely estate in the hills of Bel Air. The listing tells us the seven bedroom, seven-and-a-half bath home is on 4.9 acres and three parcels, with a main house and "three additional detached structures." The listing also invites buyers to "build up or build a new estate altogether" but we're hoping whoever buys it keeps the mid-mod house, with its relatively open plan and good flow. We even dig Mrs. Jorgensen's taste in Chinoiserie furnishings. And if you're looking for Hollywood pedigree, Mrs. Jorgensen ran in some pretty exclusive circles--she was the wife of a successful movie producer in the 1930s; later, she married steel exec Earle M. Jorgensen. Asking price: $18.25 million or $3,008 per square foot.
