Southern California is like a living laboratory in terms of the area's racial mix, according to KPCC host Larry Mantle, who interviews Dowell Myers at USC and Hans Johnson of the Public Policy Institute of California Growth to talk about the latest census data information. Notably, there are more Latinos and Asians moving into middle-class neighborhoods, for instance Asians, are increasingly moving into El Monte. Overall, there's more inter-mixing of neighborhoods, except in Santa Monica, which is now 72 percent white. Additionally, the aging of the communities--and older people selling--continues to be a precursor for ethnic turnover. [KPCC]
