Well, that wasn't as exciting as we had hoped it would be. The LA Times reports that Mayor Villaraigosa has asked all city departments to trim their budgets by 3 percent in order to close the city's $110 million deficit. If the 3 percent chop fails to improve the financial situation, a greater 9 percent chop may be in order for the 2009-10 budget. "That would just decimate the department," said Jon Kirk Mukri, general manager of the Department of Recreation and Parks, who said his agency would eliminate paddle boats at MacArthur Park and various festivals if such cuts were needed."
