Solair's Big Blank Wall

New, 9 comments

Construction is wrapping on Koreatown's Solair mixed-use condo tower, and when finished next year, the 22-story structure will have two levels of glassy retail facing Western Avenue and a separate two-story retail structure (40,000 square feet of shopping delights) facing Wilshire. It all sounds very pedestrian-friendly. That's until you take a stroll up Oxford Avenue and check out Solair's unflattering rear. There's a parking lot for an adjacent pharmacy and a ramp leading to Solair's above-ground parking garage (see jump), but that's not really the problem. Right now, there's a windowless wall (could be the back of the retail or garage) facing Oxford that's quite unwelcoming. May we suggest a giant fresco or a Banksy installation?
