There are many design flaws that earn our ire. Yellow sponge faux-finishes in cute post and beams. The overuse and abuse of statues. Design flourishes with no functional purpose. Decor inspired by Skittles. And the unrestrained faux-opulence of homes teetering on the edge of the bubble. And here's the first candidate for hideousness post-bubble. We would have barely batted an eyelash at a simple stucco box. But adding the decorative column and arch over the single, centered window was just too much. It's both baffling and disturbing at once. And did the broker really think the street shot of the electrical wires would help sell the place? From the listing: "Bank Owned. Newer construction. 2 units in move in condition. Each unit is 3 bedrooms 2 baths. Great deal live in one and rent the other." Asking price: $269,000.
