[Dan's former home]
Where be poor, halved Dan the miner and where is the community outrage that he is not back on his rock? Readers will recall that the Carthay Circle seven-foot bronze statue was stolen and cut in two by thieves back in February. And then there were some ownership concerns. Here's what a representative from City Councilman Jack Weiss' office says: "He is still undergoing repairs and restoration. When he is ready to be reinstalled I will let you know." Who knows how long it takes to re-attach a pair of bronze legs to a torso, but this delay seem suspicious. God, we hope city officials haven't melted Dan down to help pay off the deficit. UPDATE: Here's a recent LA Now blog post on the thieves that stole Dan.
