The Argonaut has the latest in the case of Jerry Rubin, who was arrested last month in Santa Monica after interfering with the city's removal of ficus trees (an ongoing and personal battle of Rubin, who is head of the pro-ficus group Treesavers). No jail time for Rubin, who'll stay on probation for one year and has been ordered not to interfere with any Santa Monica tree work for a year. What his attorney Barry Smith believes: "I think he'll stay clean," Smith said. "He's running for City Council. He's almost 65. He does not need any more of these headaches. It's too stressful for him. I think he'll stay clean and so does the city." Scene from the big arrest last month is here. [The Argonaut]
