Governator Kills Tax Rebates for Old-Timey Renters

The California Senior Citizens Renters Tax Assistance program provided rebates—up to $348 annually—to over 125,000 senior, blind, and disabled Californians living on a fixed income. Well, that was until Schwarzenegger used his veto power to eliminate the program, reports CityWatch. The entire $150 million program has been dumped to help patch up the state's ailing finances; Arnold may be asking the feds (!) for a $7 billion loan (see linkage).
