If it seems like LA's hotel industry has been immune to the housing crisis, now comes news via the LA Times that as a result of the Lehman Brothers collapse, work as been halted indefinitely on the Ritz-Carlton at Rancho Mirage, which is currently in construction (it's a renovation of the Lodge at Rancho Mirage). But on the next page of the LA Times, there is some expansion news: Hilton Hotel Corp. plans to add 1,000 hotels outside the US within the next ten years, and announced that they would add 150 more developments in the Caribbean and Latin America in the next five years. KOR Hotels also recently announced international expansion plans. [LA Times]
