Westside homeowners didn't get to see councilman Jack Weiss recalled but they will get a total of $7.25 million from Century City Realty LLC, which'll put up two 47-story and one 12-story luxury condominium buildings on 5.5 acres on Constellation Boulevard at Avenue of the Stars, reports the LA Times. The money, which'll be given to four groups--Tract 7260, California Country Club Homes Assn., Cheviot Hills Homeowners Assn. and Westwood Homeowners Assn--will be used for "local schools, libraries, parks and fire and police facilities near Century City" as a way to deal with the headache of the project. The whole thing turned nasty when homeowners accused Weiss' office of developer boot-licking and ignoring traffic issues. But with the promised money, there's no renewed affection for Weiss: the Recall Jack Weiss site hums along, now with a handy meter counting down his days left in office.
