EaterTastings: LA Mill Coffee, Michelia, and A Pasadena Star

New, 13 comments

This week's top dish from Eater LA, Curbed's restaurant, bar, and nightlife blog...

1.) That debate over Starbucks versus Coffee Bean? Enter a new contender--here comes Silver Lake's LA Mill "coffee boutique," opening next Friday. Eater is flooding the zone on this one, folks, so check out all the postings.

2.) After seven years, Kimmy Tang's French and Vietnamese-inspired Michelia will close down this month. And more closings for 2008: Silver Lake's Backdoor Bakery is also closing, due to a landlord dispute. Anything we can help with, BB?

3.) A reality star comes down to earth in Pasadena. Gordon Ramsay's Hell's Kitchen sous chef MaryAnn Salcedo is the exec chef of Neomeze. She's been there for about four months. Writes Eater: "Do you think she wakes her chefs up by hitting a giant pot in their bedrooms every morning? That would be awesome."
