Last February, the city council allocated millions towards the cleanup of Echo Park lake, a task that would include the draining of the lake and create some fancy new wetlands area and some man-made rock formations. It seems things are getting underway: Chicken Corner reports that there was a City Hall meeting yesterday to discuss the project and that engineering/construction firm Black & Veatch, which has the contract to implement improvements upon Echo Park Lake, has been spotted at the lake with a drilling rig. How work at Echo Park lake will impact the park's day to day use--or locals' nightly fishing expeditions--isn't clear, but lets just hope the Lady of Lake gets her hand back, if she hasn't already.
