How We Live, Part II: El Monte Airport Drives Man To Scanning

New, 2 comments

Westchester residents hate LAX as much as El Monte resident Dan DeBoer detests the helicopters from El Monte airport that rattle the windows of his home. Apparently, the copters are from the Universal Air Academy, which runs a pilot school at the airport, and the noise is so bad that Dan DeBoer went out and bought a scanner to monitor flights, at one point recording helicopters that passed 30 times in a two hour period. A rep for Universal Air Academy, says "the flight academy has gone as far as having a map with DeBoer's home marked to ensure they do not fly over it," but DeBoer says the copters are still coming.
