Veterans Park Conservancy, the highly patriotic people who renamed a chapel for a dead comedian and helped kill West LA's dream of professional football, now have a long-term, rent-free agreement with the Department of Veterans Affairs to develop a memorial park. Sixteen acres of sod and whatnot will be laid to rest behind the big fancy gate at San Vicente and Wilshire Boulevards on the grounds of the VA Medical Center.
