1) Silver Lake: We're sharing wave lengths with a reader. We took pictures of the "Bates Motel" aka "Den of Something Evil" Motel over the weekend and noticed the new signage, too. "I just drove by the abandoned motel on Sunset Blvd. in Silver Lake (across the street from Malo) and saw it plastered with "For Lease" signs. What gives? I thought it was being turned into an uber-over-priced-hipster hotel? Where will the kids with crooked bangs go to now? They were counting on that boutique hotel, damnit!"
2) Everywhere but LA: We can name a few, but a reader wants more. "What municipalities adjacent or inside Los Angeles have rent control?"
3) Santa Monica: It's like old times - a Pinkberry question. "What happened to Pinkberry going in at 4th & Santa Monica? No word on this? Just a new bakery for dogs. The window says threedogsantamonica.com Don't have a dog but don't want any Pinkberry either. I will however spend as much time as possible in that shop in case Paris Hilton stops by. Looks like her kinda place."
