Venice's Controversial Hotel Ray: Done and Done

Via comments: "The Ray Hotel was rejected by the West L.A. Planning Commission [last night]...by a 5-0 vote. The opposition of Councilmember Bill Rosendahl and many Venetians (note spelling) was crucial." The news comes from Venice resident Jim Brown, who attended the meeting (we emailed him to confirm his comments, too). Venice Paper also has a brief mention of last night's meeting. The proposed hotel would have gone up at 901 Abbot Kinney Boulevard.
UPDATE, 11:51 AM: A spokesman for the Ambrose Group, the developer who proposed the hotel, tells us the Hotel Ray was a site-specific project and that there are no plans to build the hotel elsewhere.
