Poor Elliott Smith. First he stabs himself in the chest. Twice. And dies. Now his memorial mural in Silver Lake is vandalized by graffiti artists. It's the aesthetic equivalent to pissing on his grave, no? Blog Monty Heights reports the mural on Sunset has been defaced by taggers: "Thousands of people have signed this memorial wall for him and with 10 seconds of someone's paint, it has all been ruined." No doubt if Smith were still around he'd compose an acoustic ballad bemoaning the blue paint as a symbol of his existential despair.
