Lunchtime Thinkage: Why So Complicated?

"Looking at this architecture firm's website is enough to make anyone want to move to the most heavily censored village in North Korea," writes a reader in response to LOHA's periodical table-inspired web site (excerpt of snap shot above). To be fair, another reader likes the site. But here's a related question: Why do architects make their web sites so complicated? In the same way ladies dress for other ladies, are architects (and their web developers) trying to out-clever other architects? And which LA-based architects get it right--and run some good-looking sites?
