CurbedWire: Fear the Little Leaguers

EL MONTE - We mentioned the El Monte transit village proposal last week. Helpfully, a reader emails us with more details. "The project is going to require some legislation out of Sacramento to move forward. The site is highly encumbered with Cal Trans and MTA stuff that leaks and the project will likely be required to restore a good chunk of the San Gabriel River (like what is going on with the LA River) and that is very expensive. Also- (the real kicker) to make the project feasible, a historic park and little league field are going to be have to be razed to make more room for condos. Little league parents could squash the project like a bug if the city doesn't come up with a way to replace them." If the little league contingent ever joins forces with the Valley horse people, God help us all. [CurbedWire Inbox]

LA CANADA FLINTRIDGE - We've received several of these reports from La Canada, so we cave and report: "I know how much you guys like to talk about Pinkberry and I don't think I've read about a new Pinkberry in La Canada. It's by the Panda Express on Foothill." [CurbedWire Inbox]

CANOGA PARK - Our long Valley nightmare is over. Cheap fashions finally arrive tomorrow when the H&M at Westfield Topanga (soon to be part of the biggest mall in Southern California) opens to stark raving mad shoppers. A reader sends us the link to the Westfield page: "The first 100 shoppers in line at the grand opening will receive a free H&M T -shirt and H&M gift card valued at $10 - $200." Blah, blah... yeah, this will probably be the last H&M post we ever do, so enjoy it. [CurbedWire Inbox}
