Somewhere Over the Rainbow, Skies Are Blue, Apartments Are Red

The Gods Of YouTube are delivering an abundance of goodies today. An outfit called ArchitectureFilms has posted an interview with architect Michael Maltzan at the Rainbow Apartments, the public housing project he's designed for the Skid Row Housing Trust. And with the exception of one gray wall facing the interior courtyard worthy of Soviet-era communist housing, we like it. We really like it. Views of downtown, a group dining room, shared social spaces. It puts a few Hollywood condo complexes we know of to shame. We'll post part 2, which shows the apartment interiors, tomorrow.
