Apparently we blinked and missed it: the Lautner-designed Desert Hot Springs Motel, had a buyer, lost its buyer and is back on the market for its most recent asking price of $650,000. Just to recap the saga - owner Steve Lowe died unexpectedly in January, leaving no will and the fate of the motel somewhat unclear. The motel fell into the hands of his family and was put on the market for $745,000 in March. Practically free for a mid-century gem. But location is everything and no one bit until the asking price dropped to $650,000 in May. And here we are, back again, asking "whither the fate of the Desert Hot Springs Motel?"
