BEVERLY GROVE - The new Taschen store at the Farmer's Market has a target opening date of next month. Still no word on who will be designing the store - will it be Philippe Starck or is he too busy designing watches and citrus squeezers to design another Taschen store. But with Taschen currently hiring sales staff, the opening date cannot be far away. [Craigslist]
STUDIO CITY - We often cringe when reading Daily Candy, but yesterday's ode to Gilbert & Sullivan was mind-bendingly wince-worthy. We'll try not to hold that against the subject of yesterday's assault on Victorian era comic operas: Mymi & Hy, which seems to carry everything from candy to lingerie to shoes to perfume. LOS ANGELES - It doesn't get much more vague than this - Nike and Foot Locker have teamed up to create a basketball-themed chain store called House of Hoops. The companies plan to open 50 retail stores in the next three years, starting in Harlem and eventually opening in Chicago, Houston and yes, LA. No details on where/when this might happen but the companies said most of the locations will be converted Foot Lockers. [UPI]
