The Downtown News reports that ground has been broken at the Related Little Tokyo project site. We can attest to this as we snapped the above pic yesterday when we were downtown. The site has become a giant earthen mound. Via the Downtown News:
"This first phase, a six-story, 230-unit luxury apartment building on San Pedro Street, will be called the San Pedro Apartments, said Related's Rick Westberg. The complex will be designed by Thomas P. Cox Architects, which worked on Related's Hikari apartments two blocks away. Westberg said the project will feature a street-level promenade, two-way street and landscaped pedestrian pathways." Other portions of the large lot are being developed by KOR and K. Hovnanian. More importantly, the jackals running the parking lot are now charging $7 to park in the remaining spaces. It used to cost $5 and went up to $6 late last year.
