A victory for aging surfers everywhere! Granted landmark status this past Monday, Horizon's surf shop on Main Street in Santa Monica won't meet its maker. The shop, once the hangout of the Z-Boys skate team (who were featured in the documentary "Dogtown and Z-Boys") will be saved; the rest of the building will be transformed into 14 units of mixed-use housing with ground-floor retail. Howard Laks, who is currently designing a handful of projects in Santa Monica, is the architect on the project. Check on the link above to see some of Howard's work.
