DOWNTOWN - Screw the monorail. Grassroots activist Damien Goodmon (pictured above) and friends are getting together tomorrow to continue discussing their Get LA Moving Plan. And this time, it's official. Sorta. Damien will be presenting an updated version of the plan before the Southern California Transit Advocates' monthly meeting on the 4th floor of Angelus Plaza downtown (255 S. Hill St, Los Angeles, CA 90012). We would be there, except we're 3,000 miles away right now. [CurbedWire Inbox/Skyscraper Page]
LOS ANGELES - Our tarred, sullen hearts have gone soft this week. We are now breaking our self-imposed, no event listings rule in one post. First, the prospect of, um, mobilizing the people towards better transportation. Now it's the river. Yes, the river. Tomorrow is the 18th annual Great L.A. River CleanUp, La Gran Limpieza, organized by the Friends of the LA River (FOLAR). FOLAR is expecting 3,000 volunteers to help clean up 13 sites, including 5 in Griffith Park. More info on how to participate and where can be found here. [CurbedWire Inbox]
