We dug up the listing for Yamashiro and Magic Castle: 10 acres, a sort of complicated-sounding deal, and no listed price. But the seller will consider "reasonable bids."
From the web site: "It is contemplated that a developer would consider redeveloping a significant portion of the property. ... The Magic Castle is one of the most recognized buildings in Hollywood. Given its designation as a historic landmark, it is anticipated that a future owner would maintain the structure and location of the Magic Castle." We also learn from the extensive web site that Yamashiro was built as a private mansion in 1911 and served as an social club for the Hollywood set in the 1920's. How very swanky.
