LOS ANGELES - Happy Earth Day (almost). Are you trying to live a green life but worried your dry cleaner might be killing puppies and babies and other cute, small things with toxic chemicals? If you're looking for green dry cleaners, green pet stores, green salons, green grocery stores and green taxidermists (kidding about that last one), then you might want to pick up a copy of Greenopia. Greenopia is a guide for green living and during the month of April, for every Greenopia guide sold, the company is donating $1 to LA's Million Trees Initiative. Earth Day Bonus! To save some more trees, magazine The Week is publishing online only this week. Also in this week's issue: "Off the Grid" homes, for those who find yurts too luxurious. [CurbedWire Inbox]
WEST HOLLYWOOD - In the interest of full disclosure, we volunteer as a docent at the Schindler House. What better way to spend your weekend afternoon than leading Japanese tourists and young, innocent architecture students around the house to hear about the exploits of Rudolf Schindler and his wife, Pauline? His bitter rivalry with Neutra? His apprenticeship with Frank Lloyd Wright? The Schindler house is now looking for additional docents and will be holding training sessions at the Schindler House on Saturday, May 5, 2007 at 1:00pm with Judith Sheine, architect and author or several books on the work of Schindler. Interested? Let Angelica Fuentes know at 323-651-1510 x13. [CurbedWire Inbox]
