New Chair for UCLA Architecture Department

Last year everyone was so focused on who would helm USC's School of Architecture after Robert Timme's death, we didn't even bother to check in on USC's cross-town rival to see what's up there. While USC's plucked Chinese architect Qingyun Ma out of the Asian architecture ghetto and into the international spotlight, UCLA also looked east for inspiration. Japanese architect (and SCI-arc grad) Hitoshi Abe takes over today as chair of UCLA's Department of Architecture and Urban Design. Not familiar with his work? Don't fret, UCLA is hosting an exhibition of his work April 25 through June 6.
