There is more evidence that rents are going up, making us wonder about that recent "it's ok to rent, everything is just fine, you are not a failure" NY Times story. Gray Lady, do you lie to us? A survey released today says that in Los Angeles and Orange counties, the average apartment went for $1,588 in March, a 7.2 percent increase from last year. At least Los Angeles isn't as bad off as the San Jose-Silicon Valley region, where rents went up 12.1 percent over the past year to $1,522 through March (less expensive than LA, but faster rate).
In the West, rents remained the cheapest in Tucson, Ariz. at $655 per month, a 4.6 percent increase. We like Tuscon: pretty desert flowers. Here's a pic in case that lovely office building inspires anyone to move.
