If you’ve been meaning to stop by Encounter restaurant for some mediocre overpriced food the next time you’re at LAX, you’ll have to wait six months. The building in which the restaurant is housed, called the Theme Building, has been closed. After 50 years of no renovations on the building, a 1,000 pound chunk of stucco from one of the arches fell on the roof of the restaurant last month. Somehow that didn’t seem to be a problem until this month, when inspectors determined that the upper arches are unstable and need retrofitting.
