Ontario is becoming like a real city and stuff. They’re getting a mixed-use lifestyle center called the oh-so-sublime Piemonte at Ontario. And the centerpiece of that development will be the Citizens Business Bank Arena, an 11,000 seat 225,000 square foot arena to be built just west of Ontario Mills (is that a landmark?). Construction on the arena broke ground yesterday. Backers of the arena hope that it will bring more entertainment to the I.E. other than street racing and meth labs. The operator of the arena thinks it will attract sporting events, like a minor league hockey or basketball team; concerts, like Hewey Lewis; and other big events, like Disney on Ice. The arena is scheduled for completion in October 2008.
