LOS ANGELES - A congressional watcher and frequent reader sends in an update on our subway to the sea campaign in Congress. "Just want you to know what I found out about the Congressional repeal of the federal ban on subway tunneling in mid-Wilshire. We all know the bill (S. 497) cleared the House (thanks to Waxman, finally), and Sens. Feinstein and Boxer introduced it in the Senate. Well, the bill was then punted to the Senate Committee on Banking, Housing, and Urban Affairs, where it currently sits and rots. Sen. Christopher Dodd (D-CT) is the head of the committee, and he may need some encouraging to bring up the bill in committee and get it passed so it can move to the full Senate—http://dodd.senate.gov/ A little email can't hurt, right?? "

WEST LA - The big aluminum spider is still missing a few pieces. "I went to the new BP making it a little better gas station to have my tire pressure checked only to be told they do not have air compressor yet to fill the tires. Isn't this the whole point of the station, to help you be more environmentally friendly? I would think if they could build that station in such a short amount of time, they could get an air compressor. It would be good to know if anyone else has tried out their "environmental" advice." FYI, it's good to have your tires air pressure correct because it helps improve gas mileage, or something.
