Escalator 101

With the exception of the dizzying escalator system at the Bev Center (yes, the center is a contender in our Ugliest Building Contest), most escalators always seemed pretty innocuous. But along comes Built Environment Blog with a post about the history of the escalator and suddenly they seem like these great transportation systems that we never noticed. Also, the word for horizontal escalators: Trav-O-Lator. Good times riding the Trav-O-Lators at Chicago O'Hare, trying to get to the United terminal, which was actually in another city, right?
