Laguna Beach in Focus

Laguna Beach is still the gayest town in Orange County, reports the LA Times, in an expose on the changing face of Queerburg by the Sea. Woody's has gone Mexi-Cali and the Boom Boom Room's fate remains up in the air, with the end of summer likely being the end of the Boom. While the town remains a gay hot spot, like other enclaves around the country it's being taken over by baby strollers and botox. It's all apart of the gentrification that's changing the vibe of the town into what we now see on reality TV. [LA Times]

Speaking of reality TV - the home of Laguna Beach lower-tier regular Derek LeBon is on the market. The 1975 built hillside home (pictured above) is located on a cul-de-sac featuring many of Derek's drunken class mates. One of the selling points of the 4 bed, 2.5 bath home is that it was "featured on television in the Laguna Beach show." While it lacks a pool, it does offer some pretty spectacular views of the beach where the kids go to talk about last night and look longingly at the sunset. Retail Price: $2,150,000. Speaking of the kids, the OC Register reports that series regular Jessica Smith (now with mug shot) was "arrested on suspicion of felony driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs after a crash on the northbound San Diego (I-5) Freeway on Monday." She's presently being held on bail for $100,000.[OC Register]
