Rap star Kanye West like his designer shades, his cigars, and his Beverly Hills' homes. West, who has a new album coming out later this year, just paid $7.2 million for a six-bedroom estate on nearly an acre of land.

Also in the Times: Johnny Carson's Point Dume home, purchased by the late talk show host in 1984 for about $9.5-million, has sold for $38 million. The estate, which consists of a 7,000-square-foot-plus main house, a 2,700-square-foot guesthouse and a tennis court, was sold by Carson's widow.
Land baron Nicolas Cage has paid $9.4 million for a 4,571-square-foot mansion at the top of San Francisco’s Russian Hill. The home was formerly owned by sculptor Haig Patigian. Listing web site is here.
