Well, this is all a bit sticky. First, Echo Park's Angelus Temple wants to destroy several rental properties on LeMoyne St. to build parking lots for its church goers. And a Tennessee grocery store chain called Sav-A-Lot (seriously? Sav? and one wonders why no one can spell?) wants to move in on Sunset Blvd. But neither project has been approved, courtesy of an eight-month moratorium on demolition/construction that'll let city officials determine if this section of Echo Park can be considered historic.
People need church, their inexpensive food stuffs, but rental units are nice, too. When things get uncomfortable like this, we smile, offer to refresh drinks, and change the subject. LeMoyne? Is that French?
