Rent Here, Buy There

It’s not just a New York thing: Angelinos are renting in the city and buying second homes in the country, say the LA Times. The paper interviews Liza and Blu Atwood, who rent in Santa Monica but own in Ojai. The couple just dropped $1 million for a 1940s house on 1.5 acres. The place has orange and oak trees, a stable and corral, and a rectangular swimming pool. They purchased in Ojai because that's where Blu proposed.

If there's no breakdown of the economics of renting and buying, the article does state that to pull off this lifestyle, you need: 1. $$$. 2. Flexible work hours. Yeah. We are sorta jealous of the Atwoods.
