Hollywood's Seven Seas Sold

Once a popular island-themed nightclub, Seven Seas on Hollywood Boulevard has been sold to CIM Group, who plan to restore the building's exterior to its original 1920 style and add more retail stores. According to the LA Times, the purchase represents CIM’s strategy of trying to appeal to neighbors, rather than tourists.

Execs at CIM tell the Times that one of the reasons that the Hollywood and Highland complex struggled was because there were many tourist-oriented businesses. So less Zippo lighters and shot glasses for the tourists, and more drugstores, gyms, and restaurants for locals.

One tenant has already signed up for a cruise on the Seven Seas: fashion boutique Zara. The Spanish chain will be located next to H&M , which is opening in the former Hamburger Hamlet space next door.
