Broadway Fire: The Aftermath

One of our readers writes to let us know yesterday's fire on Fourth and Broadway downtown is a blessing in disguise. And firewalls at work suck:

I thought you might enjoy a picture or two of the buildings downtown that burned night-before-last. Sadly the structural fire seems to actually be a facade improvement as it facilitated the removal of those horrible shingles by the LAFD. One has to wonder if the facade could be salvaged (though this idiot landowner certainly wouldn't do it of his own accord). I apologize, I cannot just post the pictures online from my desk at work.UPDATE: blogdowntown provides more background on the history of the gutted building.
