The Second Coming?no wait? The Grand Avenue Project is one step closer to reality. We thought it was just one of those nice ideas dreamed up by a billionaire to boost his ego but would never come to fruition. We were only half right. The City Council’s Housing, Community and Economic Development committee gave the Grand Avenue Project the green light and approved $2.05 billion for it. The LA/CRA also signed off on it and agree to throw some loose change at it ($24.4 million). Don’t expect to see another Gehry going up any time soon, though. The full City Council and the County Board of Supervisors still have to decide.
