The Happiest Place on Earth does not include those who work there or those who cannot afford to live nearby. Recently, the Anaheim City Council split on whether to allow the development of 1,500 condos and apartments next to Disneyland; 225 of those units would be affordable. Since the split vote effectively killed the development, the City Council may reconsider the project. But Disney will have none of it; Disney sued the City, claiming that the residential project would be “out of place” in a tourist area. If it weren’t for those affordable units, somehow the project would fit quite nicely with the tourist area.
