Our Most Favorite Celebrity Swimming Pool Ever

There are many pools in Los Angeles that have captured the popular imagination. The opening scene in Sunset Blvd. Hockney's series of swimming pool paintings. The dance sequences in Esther Williams' movies. Case Study 22's L-shaped hilltop pool. Those are all pretty good, but we've found our favorite. Hands down, this one stomps on all those others. The Real Estalker has a great post today on Mariska Hargitay's relatively modest home for sale on Warbler Way. Blah Blah Blah Bird Street. Blah Blah Blah 5 bedrooms, 5.5 baths. Blah Blah Blah $2,699,000 list price.

We're less intrigued by the real estate transactions of Lt. Benson than we are by her real estate lineage, as the daughter of Mr Universe Micky Hargitay and decapitated actress Jayne Mansfied. Because, ladies and gentlemen, Mariska grew up in a house dubbed The Pink Palace at 10100 Sunset Blvd. It was pink. And it glowed in the sunlight. And Jayne would step onto her balcony all Evita-like and wave to the tourists that stopped to gawk. That is awesome enough. But there's more.

With J-Man adopting the heart as her signature logo, she and hubby built a double-heart shaped pool. With "I love you Jaynie" spelled out in mosaic on the bottom. Ohmigod. We love it. We would ask "what did the neighbors think?" but with neighbors like Tony Curtis and Sonny and Cher, we're guessing this barely registered as a blip on their radar. More info on the house's fabulous geneology here.
