The LA Times checks in with gated communities, the "fastest-growing form of housing in the U.S." A home behind bars means your house is generally worth more, particularly in a 'hood like Malibu, where living on a gated road could up the price of your home by $1 million, according to one resident quoted in the story. If some like the security of living in a gated community, others point out that it feels like living in a "prison"--and there's no privacy.
