Small is the New Big

Last week, in a story about small living, the NY Times interviewed Matthew Adams on living in a 120-square-foot home in Red Bluff, California (pictured above) and introduced us to a group called the Small House Society. Yesterday, blogger Apartment Therapy appeared on Oprah for a segment about living in a small space. Writes AT:
In the same way that Oprah talks about dieting and battling extra weight, people who live well in small spaces serve as examples of those who have successfully shed the overpowering weight of our consumer culture. They are living light. If the standard rule of journalism is three is a trend, we'll look for one more mention of small living this week, then officially declare Lilliputian living on. And start burning all our stuff.
