Construction has started on Pasadena’s $121.6 million Convention Center, reports the Pasadena Star-News in a story that's really just a love letter to the 75-year-old Civic Auditorium. The centerpiece of the forthcoming center, the auditorium will be flanked by two curving buildings and a plaza; a 25,000-square-foot ballroom and 85,000 square feet of exhibit space are also planned. The whole center will be done in 2009. Meanwhile, the ice rink behind the auditorium is moving to East Pasadena.
