California beach officials and David Geffen have made nice. In return for opening up a previously-closed 42-foot stretch of Carbon Beach to the public, Geffen will be granted a 10-foot privacy buffer to protect him from metal-detecting beach combers. How many presidential administrations ago did this feud start? We can't remember, but the Times notes that the feud "inspired headlines across the U.S. and Europe as well as a Doonesbury cartoon strip."
